A weekly flight connecting Mauritius to Comoro Islands as from December — such is the endeavour undertaken by Int’Air Îles and Omarjee Aviation.
The initiative is meant to ease the way of individuals wanting to travel to and from the two islands for tourism or for business, says Umarfarooq Omarjee, the executive director of Omarjee Aviation. He says that the people of the Comoros approve of the new link, specially because it opens doors for them to travel to Mauritius for medical care or to pursue tertiary education.
The flight will be linking Mauritius to Moroni to Mayotte—a distance that will be covered in merely 3 hours. Otherwise, travellers of this route have had to endure long hours of stop-overs and transfers from Reunion Island, leading to almost 24 hours lost just in the journey. Furthermore, the current costs of travel will be reduced by two times.
